This year, the Goodwood Festival of Speed will feature Alfa Romeo with the debut of the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale at a public international event other than in Italy. In addition, only a few days after its dynamic debut to the international press, the Alfa Romeo Junior will be on show in a section exclusively dedicated to electrified cars: “Electric Avenue”
Goodwood – A world-class catwalk for motoring
Held for the first time in 1993 and initially focusing on vintage cars, the Goodwood Festival of Speed is an unmissable event. Over the years, it has become a worldwide benchmark for fans of automotive culture. Open to present-day models since the year 2000, the event includes exhibitions, roadshows and special stages. A wide range of vehicles take part, from vintage models to Formula 1 cars. The major automakers therefore consider this event as an international showcase for their latest models: this year, for the first time other than in Italy, Alfa Romeo is giving a public presentation of the new custom-built 33 Stradale, and the new Junior compact car.
Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale
The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale will be on show in the “Supercar Paddock” section, open throughout the event. A few weeks ago, it featured at another renowned international event, the “Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este”, which since 1929 has been selecting the most beautiful vintage cars, alongside the most appealing prototypes since 2002. The new Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale won the coveted Design Concept Award, confirming it as a work of art in motion.
The new Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale acts as the brand’s ‘manifesto’, in terms of style, technology, and driving experience. The new custom-built car is based directly on the Tipo 33, a big name in world motoring and an icon of the 1960s, to this day still considered one of the most beautiful cars of all time. Made in only 33 exclusive units, the new two-seater coupé combines heritage and the future, and is produced according to a unique artisanal process, exactly the same way as in Renaissance artisan boutiques, and in the 1960s workshops of renowned Italian coachbuilders.
Alfa Romeo Junior
The Festival of Speed will also feature the new Junior sports compact, the first car equipped with a full-electric powertrain, on display to the public in the dedicated “Electric Avenue” area. Junior is sporty at heart, compact in size and Italian at first sight. The ELETTRICA is available in two power levels, 156 hp or the higher-performance 280 hp. Both versions serve as icons of Alfa Romeo’s sporting DNA, traditionally everyday cars with best-in-class driving dynamics.
They bring Alfa Romeo’s typical driving pleasure to the compact segment, by means of specific technical solutions resulting from a development process coordinated by the same team of Italian engineers who have breathed life into extraordinary projects in the recent past (Giulia GTA, 4C, Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio, 4C).
As well as its appearance at the Festival of Speed, the Alfa Romeo Junior will be going on tour around the UK all summer, giving the public the opportunity to test drive the model. The roadshow be visiting venues in Bristol, Birmingham, Leicester, and The O2 in London.
