  • Currently underway, the Caramulo Motorfestival – where Alfa Romeo is the official sponsor – is the largest and most famous event celebrating automotive culture in Portugal.
  • Carlos Tavares, Stellantis CEO and a highly experienced driver, has driven the new 280-hp Junior Veloce – a 100% electric model equipped with specific “made by and for” Alfa Romeo solutions – on the legendary “Michelin Historic Hill Climb.”
  • The epitome of sportiness in the line-up, the compact sports car was presented at the event with a special livery created by the Alfa Romeo Centro Stile that pays tribute to the heritage of the brand and the Portuguese flag.
  • The Alfa Romeo stand will also be featuring a Tonale Tributo Italiano, the world’s first special series that pays homage to its origins and its sporting and stylistic heritage.
  • Completing the Italian brand’s line-up are 12 vintage cars, including three iconic models – the 1956 1900C SS, the 1961 Giulietta Spider Veloce and the 1970 Giulia GT 1300 Junior, from the Caramulo Museum – driven on the track by three female crews.

Taking place at the moment, the renowned Caramulo Motorfestival 2024 is one of the most important automotive events in Portugal, with current and vintage cars taking part.

Organized by the Caramulo Museum together with the Automóvel Club de Portugal, and hosted in the heart of the Serra do Caramulo, the prestigious event witnessed the participation of Alfa Romeo as Official Sponsor, having selected such a magnificent setting to present the new Junior – which marks Alfa Romeo’s return to the B-segment, the biggest in Europe – for the first time at a national event open to the public.

The big name at the event was Carlos Tavares, Stellantis CEO and a highly experienced Portuguese driver, who drove the new Junior 280 Veloce on the legendary “Michelin Historic Hill Climb” to highlight its exhilarating performance. Most of all, he emphasized its outstanding driving dynamics, worked on by the same Italian team of Alfa Romeo engineers who created unique projects such as the 4C, 8C, Giulia & Stelvio Quadrifoglio, and Giulia GTA.

On the starting grid, the compact sports car was presented in a special livery produced by the Alfa Romeo Centro Stile to pay homage to the heritage of the brand and to the iconic Portuguese flag.

Leading the way in the uphill race was the 510-hp Giulia Quadrifoglio Super Sport, the special limited edition that pays tribute to the brand’s sporting history by celebrating Alfa Romeo’s first victory at the 1928 Mille Miglia with the legendary 6C 1500 Super Sport.

On the Alfa Romeo stand set up at the Caramulo Motorfestival, on display were a new Junior and a Tonale Tributo Italiano, the first global special series in the line-up, epitomizing Italian know-how and Alfa Romeo sportiness. Participants in the event could also admire a wide range of classic and sporty models from the Alfa Romeo Clube Portugal, as well as try their hand at exciting driving simulation races with some co-drive sessions on the 280-hp Junior Veloce, offering Alfa Romeo merchandising as prizes. Finally, as many as 12 Alfa Romeo models took part in the exciting “Michelin Historic Hill Climb,” three of which owned by the Caramulo Museum – the 1956 1900C SS, the 1961 Giulietta Spider Veloce, and the 1970 Giulia GT 1300 Junior – driven by three all-female crews.

A one-of-a-kind compact car with a pure, recognizably Alfa Romeo sportiness
The Alfa Romeo Junior 280 Veloce embodies the brand’s sporty attitude, in a compact car. It is based on the usual Alfa Romeo formula, pairing its proverbial excellence – perfect weight balance, first-class driving dynamics, technological and engine solutions at the top of the segment – and that “timeless beauty”, long the hallmark of Alfa Romeo design. The 280-hp Veloce elevates these features to the highest levels, so much so that it boasts segment-leading agility and best-in-class road handling. All made possible by two world premieres for the debut of the Junior VELOCE: the new 280-hp/207-kW electric motor and the fourth-generation TorSen “D” mechanical limited-slip differential. The new version also adopts specific, exclusive technical solutions, including the most direct steering in the segment (14.6), specially calibrated to enhance its exceptional road-holding qualities. Plus, the suspension has been lowered by 25 mm, and the anti-roll bars are extra sporty to guarantee quick, precise cornering. The braking system includes 380-mm discs at the front with 4-piston monobloc calipers, while the 20” performance tires are specific for high-performance electric vehicles.
