BAIC South Africa wrapped up a highly successful showing at NAMPO Harvest Day 2025, which took place from May 13 to 16 at NAMPO Park in Bothaville. Thousands of visitors experienced the rugged innovation of BAIC’s lineup firsthand, with the standout attraction being the South African debut of the B40 PLUS Honor Edition.
BAIC drew significant attention with a full display of its latest models – including the B40 PLUS Honor Edition and the dynamic X55 PLUS. The live 4×4 track demonstrations allowed visitors to get behind the wheel and test the B40’s off-road strength in real-world conditions, further proving the vehicle’s capability in rough terrain.
B40 PLUS Honor Edition Impresses Crowds
The B40 PLUS Honor Edition – revealed for the first time in South Africa – proved to be a crowd-puller. Based on the City Hunter trim, the Honor Edition adds electric seat adjustment and a sunroof to an already extensive feature list. It retains the B40’s robust powertrain: a 2.0L Turbo Petrol engine producing 160 kW and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a 8-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle’s off-road features, including ESP, TCS, HAC, and HDC, were put to the test on the NAMPO 4×4 track – with stellar results.

Strong Sales, Strong Momentum
BAIC’s appearance at NAMPO comes on the back of a 40% year-to-date sales increase from 2024 to 2025 – a sign of growing trust and demand for the brand in South Africa. This momentum reflects BAIC’s strategic focus on offering rugged, value-driven vehicles tailored to local needs.
Ameena Hassan, Brand and PR Manager at BAIC South Africa, shared her enthusiasm:
“The growth we’ve seen is proof that South African customers resonate with what we’re offering. NAMPO gave us the perfect platform to connect with the market, and we were proud to introduce the B40 Honor Edition in such an iconic setting.”
