  • Suzuki achieves second highest overall sales record
  • Best ever dealer sales
  • Over 300,000 customers welcomed to the brand

Suzuki Auto South Africa is banishing those autumnal blues with the celebration of another stellar month of new car sales and the setting of a new brand milestone.

According to the official sales report – published by industry body naamsa on the first business day of every month – 5,977 new Suzuki vehicles were sold during April 2025. This is 693 more than the Japanese carmaker managed in March and only 422 shy of its overall sales record achieved in January 2025.

Put under the microscope, this figure is made up of 5,015 dealer sales (eclipsing the January 2025 record by 481 units) and 962 fleet/rental/government sales. This result again places Suzuki Auto South Africa second overall in the total vehicle sales by manufacturer rankings.

Spearheading Suzuki Auto South Africa’s April sales charge was the all-new fourth-generation Swift hatchback with 2,053 units sold – 445 more than the month before and enough to see this AB-segment challenger ranked as the country’s best-selling passenger vehicle and the second-best overall selling model.

Breathing down the Swift’s rear bumper was the ever popular Fronx crossover SUV with 1,186 units sold, followed by the Ertiga MPV and Baleno hatchback with 778 and 420 units sold respectively. Rounding off the top five was the Jimny with 319 units finding new homes.

“It is both humbling and encouraging to be presented with this latest set of naamsa sales figures,” says Henno Havenga, GM Auto Sales and Marketing at Suzuki Auto South Africa.

“Suzuki Auto South Africa has so far experienced a phenomenal year in terms of new car sales; an achievement that can be attributed to our portfolio of affordable, value-for-money vehicles built on Japanese quality. In the same breath it’s also a testament to our fantastic dealer network – these figures wouldn’t be achieved without it.”

“Of course we would also like to thank our loyal customer base which at the time of writing has now exceeded the 300,000 mark. Since opening the doors of our first dealership in 2008, Suzuki Auto South Africa has handed over keys to 305,460 proud owners.”

“We reached the 100,000 mark in February 2021 and the 200,000 mark in July 2023. To achieve this latest milestone just 22 months later shows how much enthusiasm and trust customers have in our product. It’s all the encouragement we need to keep on providing quality and competitively priced vehicles that don’t cost an arm or a leg to fuel or maintain,” says Havenga.
