Another big win for da Costa and bountiful points haul for Porsche

António Félix da Costa is showing stunning form; the Portuguese works driver from the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team also won race two of the Portland double-header on Sunday. At the Portland International Raceway in America’s northwest, he netted his third victory in a row. With four wins this season, da Costa now has more victories than any other driver. Moreover, he narrowly missed out on pole position by a mere 0.025 seconds and qualified second. With seven race wins, the Porsche 99X Electric is the most successful Formula E single-seater of the year.

Pascal Wehrlein, a two-time winner this season, lost the front wing of his car after just a few laps, which threw him down the field to 17th place. The German then battled his way up the order to finish fourth. In the drivers’ championship, he slashed the gap to the leader; ranking third with two races left on the calendar. He currently shares the same points’ tally with second place.

The home event for the American customer team Andretti Formula E concluded with seventh for Norman Nato and tenth for defending World Champion Jake Dennis.

After the double victories in Portland and Andretti’s points yield, Porsche heads to the season finale in London as the leader of the manufacturers’ trophy. For both the drivers’ and the teams’ championships, the Porsche works team now ranks second. The battle for all Season 10 titles will go down to the wire on 20 and 21 July in the British capital.

Florian Modlinger, Director Factory Motorsport Formula E:
 “What a fantastic second day of racing in Portland. For the first time this season, we’re in the top four with our two cars, so both sides of the garage are ecstatic. A double podium is still our dream, but as I said after our victory on Saturday, I’m proud of the team, proud of the drivers and proud of the development crew back home in Weissach. We’ve demonstrated that we never give up. We fight to the end in all championships. António’s three straight wins deserve the greatest respect. “We must now carry this momentum to London, then anything is possible in all three classifications.”

António Félix da Costa, Porsche works driver (#13): “We’ve done it again! It’s my second victory in Portland, my fourth this season. That’s incredible and shows what you can achieve together if you don’t give up and push each other. I want to thank the team for their tireless support. I’ll continue to try to do things right. Many people on Earth have this attitude to life. “Today I feel as if I’ve reached a new dimension of this spirit.”

Pascal Wehrlein, Porsche works driver (#94):“What an eventful race. On the one hand, I’m pleased I reached the finish line after losing my front wing early on. On the other hand, I could’ve done more today. Still, it’s a great result for the team. We’ve reduced my gap in the drivers’ championship to twelve points. “Now we’re looking forward to London and the decider in the world championship.”
