Round 4 of the 2025 South African Touring Car Championship (SATC) and SupaCup season takes place this weekend at the legendary Zwartkops Raceway near Pretoria. With the championship entering its midpoint, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing South Africa (TGRSA) will once again field three GR Corolla entries in the SATC championship, alongside the ever-competitive SupaStarlet in the SupaCup championship.

The team heads to Zwartkops with momentum on its side following a successful outing at Aldo Scribante Circuit earlier this month. Michael van Rooyen continues to lead the SATC championship, while teammates Saood Variawa and Nathi Msimanga will be eager to build on their strong form and climb higher in the points. In the SupaCup, Dawie van der Merwe has steadily improved throughout the season and arrives at Zwartkops inside the top five in the standings.

After three rounds, Michael van Rooyen leads the SATC Drivers’ Championship on 71 points, thanks to a consistent run of podium finishes and strong pace in both qualifying and race conditions. Saood Variawa, who joined the championship at Round 2, has climbed to fifth in the standings on 46 points, while Nathi Msimanga currently holds eighth place with 25 points, and will be aiming to continue his upward trajectory at Zwartkops.

In the Manufacturers’ Championship, Toyota heads into Round 4 at the top of the standings, bolstered by consistent performances from all three TGRSA entries.

TGRSA’s Dawie van der Merwe currently sits fifth in the SupaCup standings on 46 points, and continues to show growth and consistency with each round. His performances in the SupaStarlet have kept him in the mix for valuable championship points, and the team is confident heading into one of the most driver-focused circuits on the calendar.

Zwartkops Raceway is a 2.4-kilometre circuit featuring a mix of technical corners and short straights, making it ideal for close-quarters touring car action. The tight layout demands precise car control and often rewards drivers who can manage tyre performance and momentum through the twisty sections.

Weather conditions for the weekend are expected to be sunny and mild throughout, offering ideal track conditions for racing on both Friday’s practice sessions and Saturday’s competitive action.

As the championship battle heats up, TGRSA continues its 2025 campaign hoping for a solid result at Zwartkops as the team looks towards the remainder of the season.
