  • New all-electric Ford Capri and supercharged Mustang GTD seen in action for the first time with SuperVan 4.2 making its Hillclimb Shootout debut
  • Ford Performance unveils new Ford Raptor T1+ designed in collaboration with M-Sport to take on the Dakar Rally
  • World-famous drivers from the World Rally Championship and World Endurance Championship will be pushing Ford vehicles to the limit on the hill

Ford is unleashing the best of both electric and petrol power as a host of future icons make their debuts at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024.

The new all-electric Ford Capri– a legend rewired for the EV generation with sports car acceleration and soulful design – makes its global dynamic debut today on the famous Goodwood hill.

Flexing its muscles for the first time in public is the Mustang GTD – the most advanced and audacious Mustang ever, while the ground-breaking electric Ford SuperVan 4.2 will be targeting a fast time in the Hillclimb Shootout.

A fan favourite is also returning to Goodwood in the shape of the Ford M-Sport Puma Hybrid Rally 1, currently competing in the 2024 World Rally Championship.

Visitors to the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024 will be the first in the world to see the Ford Raptor T1+, designed with the singular purpose of taking on the world’s most challenging race. The exciting reveal will take place at the event’s Ballroom Paddock at 11:00 BST (12:00 CEST) July 12, hosted by another legend of motorsport – four-time Dakar Rally winner and two-time World Rally Champion Carlos Sainz Snr.

“We have brought a sensational line up of vehicles to this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed that shows the breadth of our capabilities,” said Mark Rushbrook, global director, Ford Performance. “Whether it’s a road car or racing car, electrified or petrol-powered, we are creating the kind of game-changing vehicles that only Ford can produce.”

Global debutants show their prowess

Leading the charge at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed is the new all-electric Ford Capri. Featuring soulful design that continues the story of a cult classic, the new Capri is the car the iconic sports coupe was destined to become.

Sports car acceleration of 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in as little as 5.3 seconds, up to 627 km of driving range and up to 572 litres of boot space makes it the ultimate sports car for the family. Inside Capri features a luxurious interior with a minimalist, digital feel, with rule-bending SYNC Move 4 technology allowing the 14.6-inch centre screen to move smoothly up and down to suit your sense of style – and protect your valuables in My Private Locker when you park up.

Capri also has your back with intelligent technologies, from automated lane changes at the flick of a switch to watching out for cyclists as you open your doors. Standard specification includes a driver’s seat with memory and massage function, wireless charging and heated front seats and steering wheel.

Ford is sending two all-new Mustang GTD supercars to the Goodwood Festival of Speed following the vehicle’s European debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

A Mustang GTD Carbon Series in Chroma Flame red [A1] will be located in the Supercar Paddock, while the Mustang GTD will make its official driving debut on the famed Goodwood Hill Climb, with Ford Multimatic Motorsports Mustang GT3 driver Frédéric Vervisch at the wheel.

This is the first time Mustang GTD has been driven at a public event. It will run in the Festival’s Batch 6A against similar production supercars.

Guests at the Festival of Speed will see the power of its 5.2-litre supercharged V8 engine targeting over 800 PS7 combined with its active aerodynamics as it runs along Goodwood’s 1.2-mile route.

In addition to the on-road demonstration runs, the Mustang GTD running the Goodwood Hillclimb highlights how Ford is elevating the exterior style of Mustang GTD and giving owners more options than ever before.

For six decades, Mustang owners have used their car to express their own unique sense of style. Mustang GTD elevates personalisation with its Extended Colour Palette. A complement to its six standard paints, the Mustang GTD’s Extended Colour Palette gives owners access to thousands of colours that make for an eye-catching, personal touch on the Mustang GTD’s exterior.

This premium experience starts by working with the Mustang GTD Concierge team that guides every owner through the ordering process. Owners will be asked to share the optional colour they want for their GTD and the team will do their best to deliver it from a vast catalogue of shades and hues.

Once the colour is formulated, owners will receive a sample of the colour so they can explore how the paint reacts to different lighting conditions and to make sure it fits their vision for the vehicle.

And for owners who truly demand a one-of-a-kind Mustang GTD, an Exclusive Extended Colour Palette Lock-Out Option is also available that will guarantee that a customer’s colour will not be available to any other Mustang GTD owner.

Coming to the Goodwood Hillclimb for the first time is the Ford SuperVan 4.2, aiming to set a super-fast time in the Shootout and coming 30 years on since the Ford Supervan 3 made its debut. Driven by multiple Le Mans winner and record holder Romain Dumas, SuperVan 4.2 is sure to give the crowds something special to see.

The SuperVan 4.2, a further-developed version of SuperVan 4, has undergone a complete redesign of aerodynamics to increase downforce – now creating more than 1,995 kg at 150 mph (240 km/h). Key aerodynamic features include a lightweight carbon fibre rear spoiler and front splitter, both assisting SuperVan 4.2 to stay planted on the track. The chassis has also undergone a weight reduction to improve overall balance and provide agility in extreme conditions.

Refinements have been made to the powertrain too. By reducing the number of STARD UHP 6-phase motors from four to three and utilising STARD’s Ultra High Performance Li-Polymer NMC pouch cells, the van achieves an optimal power-to-weight ratio while retaining its all-wheel-drive system with one motor powering the front and two in the rear. With over 2,000 PS combined discharge power at its disposal, the SuperVan 4.2 can unleash its full potential while also leveraging the battery’s new 600 kW regeneration performance for optimal energy utilisation.

Diving into the chassis, Ford Performance and STARD equipped SuperVan 4.2 with a revised regenerative braking system with carbon ceramic brake discs, magnesium forged wheels and Pirelli P Zero race tires, upgraded driveshafts, a Perspex windscreen, and a minimalist race interior to remove any unnecessary weight.

Making its global debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed will be the Ford Raptor T1+, the latest competition vehicle from the Ford Performance stable designed in collaboration with long-standing partner M-Sport to take on the Dakar Rally.

Making its competitive debut in a matter of weeks after its global debut before taking on the world’s most challenging race in 2025, the new challenger is another step in the Ford Performance mission to compete and win in the toughest motorsport disciplines.

Pushing this thrilling array of Ford vehicles to the limit are a collection of elite motorsport professionals. From the rally world, Ford M-Sport drivers Adrien Fourmaux and Grégoire Munster are joining two-time World Rally Champion Carlos Sainz Sr., while three-time Le Mans winner Romain Dumas and 24 Hours of Nürburgring winner Frédéric Vervisch bring their wealth of endurance racing experience. Completing the driver line up is renowned precision driver and seven-time British Autotest Champion Paul Swift.

Also in attendance to meet customers and media are Doug Field, Ford’s chief advanced product development and technology officer; Lisa Materazzo, Ford’s global chief marketing officer; Marin Gjaja, global chief operating officer, Ford Model e; Mark Rushbrook, global director, Ford Performance Motorsports; and Will Ford, general manager, global Ford Performance marketing.
