The future of efficient and powerful driving has arrived. Chery Sandton and Chery Northcliff are proud to unveil two significant additions to Chery’s New Energy Vehicle (NEV) line up in South Africa: The Tiggo 7 CSH Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) and the Tiggo Cross CSH Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV). Both models are now available for test drives and viewing at our showrooms.

This launch marks a crucial step as Chery accelerates its global NEV strategy, bringing advanced hybrid technology to South African roads. These vehicles are set to redefine expectations for performance, efficiency, and environmental consciousness in the SUV segment.

Globally, Chery is at the forefront of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), showcasing its commitment to innovation at major international auto shows. Following the successful introduction of models like the Omoda C9 PHEV and Jaecoo J7 SHS in mid-2025, and with premium Lepas L8 and iCar models anticipated by 2026, Chery’s diverse NEV portfolio continues to expand rapidly.

South Africa’s NEV market experienced remarkable growth, doubling in 2024 to 15,611 units and now representing 3% of total annual vehicle sales. With the introduction of compelling new hybrid vehicles like the Tiggo 7 CSH (PHEV) and Tiggo Cross CSH HEV, this figure is projected to grow significantly, signalling a clear shift towards cleaner mobility.

The All-New Chery Tiggo 7 CSH PHEV features:

  • Up to 93 km all-electric range on a single charge, ideal for daily commutes.
  • Combined system output of 265 kW and 530 Nm for exhilarating performance.
  • Exceptional combined fuel consumption of just 4.9 L/100 km.
  • Ultra-fast DC charging (30% to 80% in under 30 minutes), for quick top-ups on the go.
  • A total combined driving range of up to 1,200 km with its 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine and 18.3 kWh battery.
  • Luxurious, tech-forward interior with dual 12.3-inch screens and advanced safety systems including a 540-degree panoramic camera.

The Efficient Chery Tiggo Cross CSH HEV offers:

  • Impressive claimed fuel consumption of 5.4 L/100 km, significantly reducing running costs.
  • Combined system output of 150 kW and 310 Nm from its 1.5L petrol engine and electric motor, delivering smooth and responsive power.
  • A remarkable total driving range of up to 1,000 km on a single tank.
  • Seamless switching between four intelligent driving modes (Pure Electric, Series Hybrid, Parallel Hybrid, and Energy Recovery) for optimal efficiency.
  • Dual 10.25-inch screens and a suite of modern comfort and safety features.

“Interest in our New Energy Vehicles has been overwhelming,” says Azhar Abed, Group Franchise Director, DigiCars. “We’ve already seen very strong demand for test drives of both the Tiggo 7 CSH PHEV and Tiggo Cross CSH HEV since their arrival. Customers are eager to experience the blend of instant power, impressive fuel efficiency, and charging ease first-hand.”

With dedicated EV zones and knowledgeable staff in both dealerships, customers can explore moving into the plug-in hybrid electric era, learn about charging costs vs petrol, and perform test drives—all part of DigiCars’ mission to empower drivers of all backgrounds to confidently embrace hybrid technology.

Chery is exceptionally well positioned as South Africa ramps up its NEV infrastructure and drivers increasingly embrace cleaner, more efficient mobility solutions. The Chery Tiggo 7 CSH PHEV and Tiggo Cross CSH HEV are now available at Chery Sandton and Chery Northcliff. Whether you’re curious about hybrid technology or ready to go all-in, this is where your journey to sustainable driving begins.
