Sponsoring women’s sport in South Africa, promoting diversity, advancing gender equality and celebrating exceptional women athletes, from grassroot right up to international level, requires a collective effort.
This was stated by Hyundai Automotive South Africa, CEO: Gideon Jansen van Rensburg during this morning’s Cape Town SPAR Women’s 10km Challenge, held at the Green Point Stadium. The company was recently announced as the official vehicle sponsor, which entails giving away five Hyundai Exter vehicles; each valued at R269 900 at the five SPAR Women’s Challenge races in 2025. The winner of each car must be 18 years or older and hold a valid driver’s license.
“As Hyundai Automotive South Africa, we have a good understanding of some of the societal challenges facing women in South Africa, including in sport. If we choose to make a difference by going alone, we can make a difference however it will be minimal. Instead, by partnering with like-minded corporates like the SPAR Group through their SPAR GRAND Prix event, we can achieve more, collectively. We are proud to have come on board and look forward to many years of this partnership.”
According to various global and as well as local research, the automobile market has seen a dramatic change in recent years, with a significant increase in female car buyers. This shift reflects a broader societal trend towards gender equality.
