- Jeep® Gladiator recognised as most-capable off-road bakkie
- Wins Specialist category in second Bakkie of the Year contest
- Rigorous and stringent test regime put eight finalists through their paces
The Jeep Gladiator has been awarded the Specialist Bakkie of the Year (BOTY) for 2024 against eight finalists, recognised especially for its design intention to conquer the most gruelling terrain. The award was announced at the NAMPO Cape exhibition in Bredasdorp on Saturday.
“It’s an honour to be recognised by the BOTY jury for what we designed the Jeep Gladiator to be: the most capable off-road bakkie,” says Jeep brand head Janus Janse van Rensburg.
The Jeep Gladiator builds on a rich heritage of tough dependable Jeep trucks offering rugged utility and uncompromising 4×4 capability. It really is a unique vehicle suited to taking passengers and cargo anywhere.
The Bakkie of the Year competition, which held its inaugural edition last year, is designed to find the best pickup in South Africa by putting all the entrants through a robust and stringent testing regimen that incorporates on and off-road dynamics as well as towing and loading capabilities. The competition is open to all double-cab 4×4 bakkies introduced locally from September 2023 to August this year.
