Consistent with the tradition of a brand that can go anywhere and do anything, Jeep journey in the European market knows no obstacles. The commercial results at the end of September 2024 show a volume of registrations of 100,700 units with an increase of 3.5% and representing a market share of 1% (on the passenger car industry) up by 0,03 percentage points compared to the same period in 2023.
“We are thrilled to announce that Jeep sales in Europe have surpassed 100,000 vehicles, demonstrating that our commitment to delivering a brand that embodies freedom and adventure meets large success. These impressive results exemplify our ability to adapt to diverse markets” has commented Eric Laforge, Head of the Jeep brand in Enlarged Europe. “The remarkable reception of the Jeep Avenger, our first fully electric SUV, is a testament to our innovative spirit and the distinct appeal of our vehicles. It not only reflects our dedication to sustainability but also reinforces our promise of ‘Freedom of Choice” with our diverse offer and we’ll strengthen our footprint across Europe with the coming Avenger 4xe version”.
A Multilingual Success
Jeep’s excellent results are well distributed across the Old Continent, impacting numerous countries at various latitudes. Of the nearly 50% of volumes registered outside of Italy, the home market for Jeep, notable results emerge from France, with registrations nearing 9,000 units—an impressive 61% increase compared to last year—and a market share of 0.6% (up 0.2 percentage points from the previous year).
The UK saw over 6,000 registrations, with an extraordinary year-on-year increase of 155% and a rising market share of 0.3%, reflecting a growth of 0.2 percentage points. In the Netherlands, registrations grew by 81% compared to 2023, and market share increased by 0.3 percentage points to reach 0.7%.
The Importance of Jeep Avenger
The Jeep Avenger deserves its own chapter: it ranks just below the podium among 100% electric B-SUVs in 29 EU countries, standing third in France and the Netherlands (YTD August 2024). In a key market like Italy, where the Jeep brand has a market share of 4,5% on passenger car industry, the Avenger is the best-selling SUV overall in the first nine months of the year, across all powertrains, and it’s in the third best-selling model in the total passenger car industry in Italy.
The Jeep Avenger encapsulates the brand’s unique DNA in a compact size, which is one of the keys to its widespread success. Another secret to its appeal is its range, which embodies the freedom of choice—one of Jeep’s cornerstones: the Avenger is the brand’s first 100% electric SUV and is also available with an e-Hybrid version with automatic transmission on top of an efficient 1.2-liter gasoline engine with 100 HP, featuring a manual transmission, while awaiting the hybrid 4xe all-wheel-drive model, providing maximum “Freedom of Choice” on any terrain.
Thanks to these features, it has gained the trust of prestigious clients, including companies like Ernst & Young and Stedin in the Netherlands, and Orange in France, which have purchased significant volumes of the electric version for their hiring programs or maintenance services. Lastly, the Avenger has won tenders with Italian government agencies such as the Fire Brigade, Carabinieri, and Guardia di Finanza for a volume exceeding 1,200 units.
