The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon has triumphed in the Best Family SUV For Off-Roading category at the 2024 What Car? Car of the Year Awards.
The signature Jeep model, the Wrangler Rubicon, was highly praised for its excellent ability to uphold the brand’s off-roading reputation, comfortably outperforming its rivals.
“While some brands lose their pedigree over time, the Wrangler Rubicon shows that off-roading is still at Jeep’s core,” said Steve Huntingford, the editor of What Car? Magazine.
“In our latest 4×4 mega-test, the Rubicon proved nigh on unstoppable, driving up, over and through the toughest obstacles we could find with ease and outperforming all its rivals. It’s an off-roader that really can go pretty much anywhere.”

Throughout the year, the experts of What Car? test hundreds of cars, choosing the ultimate vehicles in each category at the end of the 12-month period.
The Wrangler Rubicon is the Jeep brand’s off-roading champion, representing the brand’s heritage as the ultimate off-roader mastering manoeuvrability, articulation and ground clearance as well as traction and water fording. The model’s performance is defined by its 2.0-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, producing 272hp and 400Nm of torque at 3,000rpm, equipped with Auto Start Stop and eight-speed automatic transmission.
Adding to its performance abilities, the Wrangler is prepared for any journey with its Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), Gorilla Glass windscreen and curtain airbags. The Uconnect infotainment system ensures a comfortable and enjoyable journey no matter the distance.
