Kia announces August 2024 global sales results

• August 2024 global sales of 251,638 units, down 1.7% Y/y
• Outside of Korea, Kia sold 210,483 units, down 1.4% Y/y
• In Korea, Kia sold 40,510 units, down 4.1% Y/y
• Kia Sportage SUV led the company’s sales, selling 45,406 units, backed up by the Seltos and Sorento SUVs

Kia Corporation announced global sales for August 2024 of 251,638 units (excluding special purpose vehicles), led by strong market demand for the company’s SUV models.

The Sportage SUV drove Kia’s August sales, selling 45,406 units globally. The Seltos and Sorento SUVs backed up this continued market performance, with the Seltos SUV recording global sales of 27,595 units. The Sorento SUV sold 18,580 units globally. Kia’s total global sales in August were down 1.7 percent year over year.

Sales outside of Korea

Outside of Korea sales were down 1.4 percent compared with the same period in 2023, to 210,483 units.

The Sportage SUV led the brand’s performance in markets outside of Korea, with 39,418 sales. It was followed by the Seltos SUV, which sold 22,044 units, and the K3 (including its successor in some markets, the K4 compact sedan) with sales of 15,980 units.

Korea sales

In the Korean market, Kia sold 40,510 units, a 4.1 percent decrease compared with the same period last year.

The Sportage SUV led the company’s passenger vehicle sales in its home market, with 5,988 units. This was followed by the Seltos SUV, which sold 5,551 units, and the Carnival MPV, with 5,534 sales. The new all-electric EV3 also sold 4,002 units in its first full month of sales. 

Kia will continue to build its sales momentum with the launch of multiple competitive new models in the second half of this year, including the new Sportage SUV and K8 sedan.
