  • The Mercedes-Benz Vito Select, targeted at private customers, launches in South Africa.
  • Available in Mixto (5-seater) and Tourer (8-seater) variants.
  • The Mixto is available for R1,264,200.00 and the Tourer for R1,360,000.00 (including 15% VAT).

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the Vito Select, the second Mercedes-Benz van to join the passenger car network in South Africa. Whether for sports, family, friends, or more, the Select offers private customers abundant space and versatility, along with all the premium safety, quality and style features expected from a Mercedes-Benz.

“The launch of the Select marks a significant milestone,” says Beate Mey, Marketing Manager for Mercedes-Benz Vans SA. “Previously, only our illustrious V-Class was designed specifically with private customers in mind, whereas the rest of our lineup – the commercial Vito, Sprinter, and eSprinter – was created for business applications. While the V-Class remains the ultimate luxury van, the Select focuses on versatility and play, providing a dynamic, engaging, yet still premium experience at a differentiated price point.”

The vehicle boasts a modern look and feel, featuring an expressive front, a contemporary cockpit, and an array of advanced safety and driver assistance features. The Select is available in two vehicle variants:

Mixto Select – R1,264,200.00 including VAT

The Mixto offers space for up to 5 passengers, while reserving a generous 4.1 cubic metres of load volume in the back. This makes the Mixto the ideal vehicle for sports enthusiasts, adventurers, and hobbyists who need plenty of room to store everything from bicycles to camping gear and luggage.

Tourer Select – R1,360,000.00 including VAT

The Tourer accommodates up to 8 passengers, with ample room for luggage in the back. It is perfect for large families, socialites, or high-end shuttle services. Flexible seating arrangements allow the first row of seats to be turned to face the rear, creating a lounge-like experience in the back. Additionally, the back row of seats can be removed, making room for up to 5 passengers with significantly more luggage space.

High-spec, Completely Standard:

A highlight of the Select is its impressive range of standard equipment and specifications. Inside, the vehicle features a redesigned instrument panel with the MBUX multimedia system, a 10.25-inch touch display, a 5.5-inch TFT display, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The cockpit also includes a wireless smartphone charging station, a heated multi-function steering wheel, and electric seat controls with a memory function. All seats are upholstered in faux black leather, enhancing comfort, visual appeal and practicality. For added ease of use, the Select offers an electric tailgate and electric sliding doors for effortless onboarding and disembarking.

Under the bonnet, the Select houses a MU6 Engine type, paired with the best-in-class 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission. The transmission’s overdrive characteristics help reduce engine speed and fuel consumption during real-life driving. With 140 kW of output power and 440 Nm of engine torque at 1,400 rpm, the Select – despite its large size, with a gross vehicle mass of 3,200 kg – is ready to perform.

When it comes to driver assistance features and safety systems, the Select is fully equipped with Active Lane Keeping Assist, ATTENTION ASSIST, Blind Spot Assist, a Cruise Control System, and an Anti-Theft Protection Package for added peace of mind. Furthermore, the Mercedes-Benz Emergency Call System can save crucial time in emergencies by automatically or manually initiating a call for help, speeding up response times after an accident. For the utmost comfort and convenience, the Parking Package with reversing camera makes parking and manoeuvring effortless. By simply pressing the park button, the system automatically detects suitable parking spaces at speeds below 35 km/h, displaying them in a 3D view on the central screen. Once the driver selects their preferred spot, the system takes over, assisting with parking by handling the steering, acceleration, braking, and even gear changes, allowing drivers to relax and enjoy a stress-free experience.

Finally, along with a colour-coded bumper and chromed radiator grille, the Select is available in 8 colour options and 3 wheel variations, allowing customers to express their unique style. The 8 paint colours include Vintage Blue (new), Alpine Grey (new), Arctic White, Hyacinth Red Metallic, Graphite Grey Metallic, Jupiter Red, Rock Crystal White Metallic, and Obsidian Black Metallic. For wheels, customers can choose from the standard 17-inch 5-spoke light-alloy wheels, a 17-inch 5-twin-spoke wheels (no additional cost, available on both Mixto and Tourer), or a 20-spoke light-alloy wheel (no additional cost, available on the Tourer only).

Natasha Jardim, the Managing Executive of Mercedes-Benz Vans SA concludes, “The Vito Select represents our commitment to offering dynamic, high-quality vehicles that cater to diverse lifestyles. As we continue to innovate and respond to customer needs, we’re excited to bring this exceptional vehicle to the market. We truly believe the Select will be a great success, combining functionality, style and versatility to set a new standard in its class.”

With its striking design, premium features, and versatile configurations, the Vito Select is more than just a van, it is an invitation to select your journey in style. If you’re looking for a vehicle that balances practicality with luxury and that adapts seamlessly to your lifestyle, the Vito Select offers it all.
