  • HAVAL launches Next Level New Jolion in South Africa.
  • New Jolion PRO Brings Slick Coupé SUV Looks and High Specification to the market.
  • GWM brings two product offerings with HAVAL into small utility segment New HAVAL Jolion and Jolion PRO is at your new HAVAL dealership.

If cars are reinventing how South Africa drives, then the all-new HAVAL Jolion PRO is about to revolutionise how you see your motoring future. The first new HAVAL model to launch under the carmaker’s new One GWM philosophy, the New Jolion PRO takes all the solid, dependable and high value traits that its vehicles are famous for and blends them into a stylish sporty new era.

“Our New Jolion brings all the typical HAVAL premium cabin finishes, connectivity and safety technologies, but it sets itself apart in a sporty new look” GWM South Africa Chief Operations Officer Conrad Groenewald explains. “New Jolion brings two options to market. The updated version of the current platform under the “City” branding and an all-new product under the “Pro” series. We aim to appeal to more customers in the growing small SUV segment”.

“The New Jolion PRO’s biggest plus is however that it will make you believe that it exists far higher up the price ladder than where it actually sells. But in truth, while it costs far less than its looks may suggest, the New Jolion PRO delivers a thrilling new full-specification package in a versatile, high-quality, high-value new range.”

“The New HAVAL Jolion PRO goes far beyond just good looks and style,” GWM HAVAL and ORA Brand Manager Carina van der Merwe adds. “Higher and wider than the regular Jolion, the New PRO also rides on the same wheelbase so there’s space aplenty. It has the headroom, the legroom and the boot capacity to rival the best midsize SUVs rivals that this busy segment can offer.

“That’s all before we even touch on the rest of this car’s superb pedigree. From height-adjustable LED headlights to seamless state-of-the-art Infotainment, premium 6-speaker sound and that legendary GWM Backup and support, the New HAVAL Jolion PRO has it all, and then some. Visit your local GWM dealership to check it out!”

New Jolion PRO looks may deceive. Its pedigree won’t.

At first glance, you’d likely believe that the New HAVAL Jolion PRO is a smart new German coupé SUV. You would be wrong on its origins of course, but the New Jolion PRO certainly is a smart new coupé SUV.

Now available in a versatile five-model range, the New HAVAL Jolion PRO comes in a trio of 1.5L turbocharged  options in the base model Premium, stepping up to the Super Luxury, and the Ultra Luxury. There is also a more powerful 1.5T S Ultra Luxury, while the range is topped by the self-charging petrol-electric Ultra Luxury model.

A most contemporary hexagonal grille with fourteen chrome tipped vertical bar and a proud, yet discreet HAVAL badge announces the New HAVAL Jolion PRO in grand style. It sits between a pair of smart multi-angle height-adjustable follow-me-home daytime running headlamps, with LED illumination in the Luxury models.

That’s accentuated by a purposeful and finely detailed lower grille and a vent on each side, all nestling under the clamshell bonnet. Handsome side treatment features gentle hollows neatly offset by crisp crease lines and a slick coupé-like glasshouse. Sporty alloy wheels are framed by subtle black-lined wheelarches united by a dark skirt. All traits you’d expect from a sporty premium coupé SUV, of course.

The New HAVAL Jolion PRO is rounded off by smart and contemporary rear treatment dominated by LED taillights linked by a bar across the width of the car. A cheeky black spoiler mounts off the end of the roof rails atop the tailgate. A pair of marker lamps sit in the side jowls. And it’s all finished off by a trendy venturi-look bib below, incorporating a low level lamp and styling tips on each side.

The New HAVAL Jolion PRO is available in four colours – Hamilton White, Sun Black, Light Ayers Grey and the Jolion PRO exclusive HD Blue colours. All models get gloss black door handles, mirror covers, a shark fin antenna, boneless wiper blades front and rear, and smart 17” face polished alloy wheels. Super Luxury models step up to 18” wheels and add a panoramic sunroof and black roof rails, automatic headlamps, and auto wipers too.

Mega New HAVAL Jolion PRO cabin stars on space, style and spec

While it looks sportier, the New PRO is in reality both wider and taller than the regular Jolion City it now joins on the South African range. At 4.470 metres long, 1.898 metres wide, 1.625 metres tall, and riding on a conveniently long wheelbase, the new HAVAL Jolion PRO is also more spacious inside.

The black cabin certainly looks just as contemporary as the rest of the car with a quality padded dash providing a smart lateral element. The focus is however on the horizontal plane, with the infotainment touchscreen floating above a row of one-touch buttons and a teutonic look central climate control vent below that.

Jolion’s traditional rotary bezel gear selector sits below on the front of the centre console. It shares that space with smart space-managed open and shut storage binnacles to complement the large cubby ahead of the front passenger.

The base model New Jolion PRO Premium has a neat and functional four-way adjustable multifunction paddle shift steering wheel framing a 3.5-inch instrument cluster. The steering wheel gains leatherette treatment on Luxury models, which also step up to a -7 inch LCD instrument cluster. Ultra Luxury variants go another step further with a driver’s head-up display projected onto the inside of the windscreen.

The HAVAL Jolion PRO Premium has cloth fabric seats with six-way adjustment for the driver and four-ways for the front passenger. Luxury models gain leatherette upholstery, six-way power adjustment for the driver, and four-way power adjustment for the front passenger. The Ultra Luxury trio add heated front seats and driver’s seat ventilation.

HAVAL Jolion PRO versatility is enhanced by a 60:40 split-foldable rear bench seat with a headrest for the centre passenger. Luxury models add a central armrest with a cup holder. The Ultra Luxury trio has ambient lighting for a splendid evening effect.

High tech New Jolion PRO has it all, and then some

The multifunction steering wheel plays a significant part in running the HAVAL Jolion PRO’s car-to-human infotainment interface. Premium models come with a 10.25-inch Apple CarPlay and Android Auto interfacing, Bluetooth hands-free and touchscreen system.

The interface has with dual USB ports front and rear, a 12V power socket up front, and 4-speaker FM/AM radio audio. Luxury models step up to a 12.3 inch touchscreen and 6 speaker audio. The Ultra Luxury trio take it a step further with wireless phone charging.

Fully air conditioned in the Premium model, the HAVAL Jolion PRO steps up to Dual Zone climate control with rear ducts in the Luxury models. They also gain a unique automatically defrosting front windshield and a heated defroster rear windscreen for those frosty Highveld winter mornings.

All models have powered windows with one-touch lifting for the driver. Luxury models add one-touch lift power windows all-round, along with a remote window closing function. The Jolion PRO Premium has power wing mirrors with indicator repeaters and an anti-glare inside rear view mirror. Luxury variants add electronic anti-glare to the inside mirror and heated auto folding to the power wing mirrors.

Keyless entry is part of the Jolion PRO’s standard central door locking access, alarm and anti-theft system. It includes an engine immobiliser, a car locating function and push button starting. There’s also speed sensor door locking and a child safety lock.

Premium models have a reverse camera backed by four rear parking sensors. Ultra Luxury models step up to an Auto Parking System with six rear parking sensors with another four upfront and a 360 panoramic view camera system.

New Jolion PRO safety specification rivals the very best

As smart, spacious and trendy as the new HAVAL Jolion PRO is, it is also safe. It comes standard with dual front, and front side SRS airbags, while Luxury models add side curtain airbags. Front seat belts have an unfastening warning and rear seats have ISOFIX child seat tethers.

The crumple engineered high tensile body shell features an energy-absorbing steering column and collision unlocking function. Secondary Collision Mitigation, ABS anti-skid brakes have brake assist, electronic distribution and Hill Descent Control. Roll Over Mitigation Vehicle Stability and Traction Control adds Hill Assist.

The Jolion PRO also comes standard with cruise control featuring driver fatigue detection, but that’s just the tip of its safety iceberg. Luxury models add Intelligent Cruise Assist+ with Intelligent Cornering and Traffic Jam Assistance and Speed Traffic Signal Recognition+ Forward Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking.  Ultra Luxury models add Lane Change Assist too.

Lane systems include Departure Warning and Lane Keep Assist, and a Lane Centring Keeping device with a Smart Dodge function. Add Blind Spot Detection with Lane Change Assistance and an Intersection Assistant, with Rear Collision Warning in flagship Jolion PRO Ultra Luxury models.

Intelligent Dodge maintains a safe overtaking distance before returning to the selected lane, while Automatic Emergency Braking activates the brakes early if confronted by an unexpected obstacle on the road ahead. Rear Collision Warning warns if another vehicle approaches from behind at a dangerous speed to avoid rear-end collisions.

Under the bonnet of three great New Jolion PRO choices

Looking under the bonnet, the HAVAL Jolion PRO is available in the three-engine line-up. Premium, Super Luxury and Ultra Luxury models have a 105 kW and 210 Nm turbocharged 1,500 cc petrol engine driving the front wheels via an advanced 7-speed Double Clutch Transmission and is good for 8.1 l/100 km consumption. The more powerful 1.5T S Ultra Luxury has a 130 kW and 270 Nm engine and 7-speed DCT good for 7.5 l/100 km.

The flagship HAVAL Jolion PRO 1.5 HEV Ultra Luxury DHT has a hybridised 140 kW and 375 Nm drivetrain. This Dedicated Hybrid Transmission merges a petrol internal combustion engine and an onboard battery-fed electric motor to seamlessly switch between EV, Series Hybrid, Parallel Hybrid and Regeneration modes.

Able to drive on electric power only during normal, easy driving, the petrol engine activates as required to accelerate or overtake. Boasting an impressive combined claimed 5.1 l/100 Km fuel economy, the hybrid also features performance launch control.

The Jolion PRO has MacPherson strut independent front suspension, with a composite torsion beam rear end in Premium and Super Luxury models. Ultra Luxury S and HEV models step up to a multi-link independent rear suspension. Jolion PRO also has four Standard, Eco, Sports and Snow driving modes with added memory function.

The Jolion PRO has multi-dynamic mode electric power steering and an electronic parking brake with an auto hold function.

New Jolion PRO tops realigned range under One GWM umbrella

The New HAVAL Jolion PRO arrives in line with a realigned Jolion range. Two Jolion City models, a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic Plus, continue below this new 5-model Jolion PRO range. These City models are based on the current legacy Jolion however they feature new front and rear design changes such as the new vertical grille in alignment with the Pro models.

“The New HAVAL Jolion PRO brings a new dimension to the re-aligned HAVAL Jolion line-up,” says Darren Pillay Head of Product. With the legacy Jolion range, namely the city grades, we have brought back the value to the lineup. Now with a new more affordable automatic grade, the “City Plus 7DCT” and with the new Jolion PRO, we have taken it to the next level by adding high-tech features such as fully automated parking, as standard.

To pay tribute to the Jolion legacy range, only 120 exclusive-release Jolion Luxury models are being introduced into the market as part of the Jolion launch. The Limited Edition will feature leatherette seats, a panoramic sunroof, 18-inch rims and a commemorative badge.

The HAVAL Jolion now falls under GWM’s new unified One GWM philosophy with P-Series, TANK and ORA brands now all part of   one global brand strategy.

All Jolion City models come with warranty that is 5 years/100 000km whichever comes first, service plan is 5 years/75 000km whichever comes first, roadside assist is 5-year unlimited mileage.

With the Jolion PRO, warranty is 7 years/200 000km whichever comes first, service plan is 5 years/75 000km whichever comes first, roadside assist 7-year unlimited mileage, high voltage parts warranty on hybrid models is 8 years/150 000km whichever comes first.
