Škoda Auto to enhance production capabilities in Kvasiny

Škoda Auto announces the opening of advanced technical training facilities at its Kvasiny site, aimed at strengthening robotics and automation skills among its workforce. The initiative is designed to equip employees with both the theoretical and practical knowledge required for modern automotive production techniques. As the Czech automaker gears up to launch Octavia production in summer 2024, this move greatly enhances the plant’s capabilities thanks to cutting-edge production processes. The investment underscores Škoda’s commitment to broadening its technical training offering at its second largest Czech site.

These investments into improving our training facilities are key to future-proofing our company. The cutting-edge robotics and automation technologies at our sites are integral to our production processes and align with the advanced training of our employees. We are ensuring that we are equipping them with the skills needed to fully utilise our equipment’s potential. This approach simplifies routine tasks, enhances efficiency, and optimises capacities.”

Flexible training tailored to different learning levels
Škoda Auto has invested around one million euros into equipping its state-of-the-art training facilities, which are now located in new, larger spaces that support greater capacity and incorporate modern technologies. They include two classrooms dedicated to theoretical training and three robot workstations for hands-on practice. The training curriculum, provided by the Škoda Academy, will primarily focus on robotics and programmable logic controllers (PLC) – skills that are increasingly important with the upcoming Octavia production launch at the Kvasiny plant.

Previously, training at the site was limited to a single robot cell, accommodating two types of robotics training and one PLC training course. Last year, nearly 200 employees were required to travel to the main plant in Mladá Boleslav for additional training.

Customised training programmes for 300 employees annually
Each year, up to 300 mechanics, electricians, and electronic technicians from the Production Line Adjustment and Maintenance departments will receive specialised technical training in Kvasiny. Topics will include normative courses, robotics, eMobility, and essential skills, all tailored to meet the specific needs of the participants and their respective departments. The upgraded training facilities enable a wide range of training levels, from introductory courses for new hires to advanced sessions for experienced forepersons, thereby ensuring comprehensive skill development across the workforce.
