- The first engine lubricant in Europe made from premium regenerated oil offers the same performance as a lubricant based on virgin oils.
- The environmentally responsible product complies with many manufacturers’ standards, and it is eco-designed with a 100% recyclable packaging.
- This project is yet another example of Stellantis and TotalEnergies Lubrifiants commitment to circular economy as part of their decarbonization strategies.
Stellantis continues to drive the transformation in the automotive industry being the first car manufacturer to promote circular economy in the development of lubricants, introducing a premium and sustainable lubricant, in line with its commitment to environmental responsibility. Available in Europe, Quartz EV3R 10W-40 enriches the SUSTAINera RECYCLE product range recently launched at the last International Automotive Recycling Congress (IARC) event on 19 June 2024.
The Circular Economy strategies of Stellantis ‘4R’ (Reman, Repair, Reuse, Recycle) and of TotalEnergies Lubrifiants ‘3R’ (Reduce, Reuse, Regenerate) for the responsible management of end-of-life products and the resulting waste, have converged in the co-branding TotalEnergies Lubrifiants – SUSTAINera of the first sustainable lubricant in the market made from premium regenerated base oils: Quartz EV3R 10W-40. A regenerated oil is a waste oil that has undergone a refining process to restore its qualities and performances.
This cooperation is another important step in the long-standing strategic partnership between TotalEnergies Lubrifiants and Stellantis.
Uncompromised performance
For the Quartz EV3R 10W-40 lubricant, TotalEnergies Lubrifiants R&D team created a premium and innovative circular economy synthetic technology engine oil formulated from 100% high-quality regenerated base oils that complies with SUSTAINera quality standards, meets the performance requirements of many other car manufacturers, and offers the same performance as an equivalent based on virgin oils. Quartz EV3R 10W-40 lubricant reduces wear by up to 46% vs industry wear limits and improves the piston cleanliness by up to 20% in comparison with virgin base oil formulation.
Premium sustainable motor oil
Quartz EV3R 10W-40 has a carbon footprint up to 50% lower than previous generation of Quartz 7000 10W-40, on the cradle to gate perimeter. It uses high quality waste oils coming from various sources in a pure Circular Economy and Eco-Designed approach. The packaging aligns these values, with 1-liter and 5-liter bottles made from 50% recycled plastic and being 100% recyclable themselves.
Widely compatible and available
This new oil is compatible for both gasoline and diesel engines for vehicles of Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Opel, and Vauxhall brands under the reference PSA B71 2300 and is approved by many other manufacturers. It’s available in Europe in all the usual sales outlets (Stellantis network, supermarkets, car centers, etc.). New technical developments are underway to expand and complete the SUSTAINera lubricant offer.
Alison Jones, Senior Vice President Global Circular Economy said: “Within Stellantis’ commitment in sustainability, this manufacturer-approved lubricant in partnership with TotalEnergies Lubrifiants is one more example of our innovation for a better future. As part of our SUSTAINera range of after-sales automotive products, it leverages on circular economy principles enabling automotive industry waste to be regenerated and reused.”
Pierre Duhot, Senior Vice President of Lubricants and Specialities at TotalEnergies said: “TotalEnergies Lubrifiants has a longstanding partnership with Stellantis. We are therefore very proud to launch Quartz EV3R 10W-40, the first product in the Quartz EV3R range, in close collaboration with SUSTAINera. We are also very confident about future developments following our recent acquisition of Tecoil, a Finnish company specialised in the production of highest quality re-refined base oils (RRBOs)”.
