Toyota has once again cemented its position as South Africa’s most celebrated automotive brand, securing the coveted Brand of the Year title at the 2024/25 Cars.co.za Consumer Awards with a record-breaking fifth win. This achievement underscores Toyota’s relentless commitment to quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

Adding to this milestone, Toyota triumphed in three key product categories:

  • Corolla Cross 1.8 Hybrid XR – Winner of the Compact Family Car category
  • Urban Cruiser 1.5 XR Auto – Winner of the Budget Crossover category
  • Hilux 2.4 GD-6 Raider 4×4 Auto – Winner of the Leisure Double Cab category

This marks the second time that both the Hilux and Corolla Cross have claimed top honours in their respective categories, reinforcing their reputation as consumer favourites.

In last year’s awards, Toyota shared the Brand of the Year accolade with its sister brand, Lexus. This time around, two Lexus finalists — the NX 450+ and RX 450+ — narrowly missed victory, both securing second place in their respective categories.

A Benchmark for Brand Excellence: Unlike product categories, which are determined through a combination of expert judges’ scores and consumer feedback, the Brand of the Year award is based entirely on market data and consumer sentiment. Factors such as sales figures, after-sales service performance, and overall brand perception play a crucial role in deciding the winner.

Toyota’s consistent performance in the Cars.co.za Consumer Awards has reinforced its status as the most decorated brand in the programme’s history, having previously claimed the Brand of the Year title in 2015/16, 2018/19, 2020/21, and 2023/24.

A Message of Gratitude from Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM): Glenn Crompton Vice President of Marketing at TSAM, says: “We are incredibly honoured to once again be recognised as South Africa’s leading automotive brand. This award is a testament to the trust and loyalty of our customers, as well as the dedication of our employees and dealer network. Thank you for making Toyota the brand of choice in South Africa.”

TSAM would like to extend its gratitude to the entire Cars.co.za team for yet another successful installment of their Consumer Awards. TSAM is truly delighted to be the recipient of these accolades once again.
