  • Brake upgrades for improved braking performance
  • Homologated to a GVM of 4 500 kg
  • Affordable pricing

Ulterio Motiv, the company known for six-wheel conversions, has released significant upgrades for the standard four-wheel Toyota’s Land Cruiser 79. The ultimate vehicle for several enthusiasts when it comes to leisure activities such as towing a caravan or boat, to much harsher tasks such as patrolling mines or being a farmer’s daily workhorse.

Owners and drivers alike will be well aware of the fact that you need quite a strong calf muscle to press the braking pedal on one of these off-road vehicles to bring it to a halt, especially when it is loaded or when it is towing. Ulterio Motiv offers, among other products, upgrades to assist drivers of these vehicles by lessening the brake pedal force needed to stop the beast in its tracks.

Braided hoses

As is the case with performance cars, the braided hoses also offer improved performance for off-road vehicles loaded, or unloaded. Braided hoses are sturdier than rubber units and is more heat resistant while lowering the expansion co-efficient. Needless to say, tougher braided hoses also offer enhanced longevity and is less prone to rupture under extreme pressure. The fact that they look the business at a Land Cruiser meet is a bonus.

Hydraulic brake booster upgrade

A hydraulic brake booster is an ideal upgrade when carrying heavy loads. It assists with the amount of pressure that is generated by the driver, offering more pressure with less effort. The system works by harvesting pressure from the power-steering pump. Part of the kit includes the hydraulic actuator and the necessary pipes that link it to the power steering system. This upgrade can be done in a day.

GVM upgrade

Land Cruiser 79s are also one of the most sought-after vehicles when it comes to camping and overlanding. Apart from the necessary equipment that is attached and build unto the vehicles, once all the food, fluids, gear and passengers have been loaded, the vehicle’s weight can easily breach its 3 060 – 3 300 kg (depending on the model) allowed gross vehicle mass (GVM).

Fortunately, once the full brake upgrade has been done, Ulterio Motiv can issue the vehicle with a higher, legal payload capacity of 4 500 kg. Do note that the driver will then need a C1 licence. Ulterio Motiv’s service includes all the registration work involved at the traffic department and that the standard OEM powertrain remains untouched.

These upgrades can be done on both the latest 79-model range as well as earlier models.

Owners and drivers can select to have all the brake improvements done, without doing the licencing for an official GVM upgrade. In the process they will have more confidence behind the wheel when applying the brake pedal and undoubtedly feel safer as well.

Pricing:

Brake booster: R18 950 (ex. VAT)
Braided hose kit: R10 950 (ex. VAT)
GVM upgrade: R32 950 (ex. VAT)*
*Includes brake booster and braided hose kit
