Dunlop Racing is all set for one of the coolest weekends on the 2024 South African racing calendar as the team heads to Knysna to support its Dunlop-shod competitors in the Simola Hillclimb 3 to 5 May. Among Dunlop’s several SportMaxx Simola Hillclimb attractions this year, are a trio of factory Volkswagens, Suzuki’s little samurais and the monster MasterDrive Mustangs.
“The Simola Hillclimb is one of our favourite racing appointments of the year,” STSA PR and events manager Joanne de Freitas explains. “Simola truly is a cool experience with close and competitive racing in a friendly festival atmosphere in one of the most beautiful spots in the country, so it is always a great pleasure to go down to support our racing partners and the rest of the racing community.
Of Dunlop’s partners, Volkswagen Motorsport will be out in full force with two factory drivers aboard a pair of powerful lightweight SATC SupaPolos, backed by a classic class original Golf 1 GTi. Suzuki is back with a nimble trio of Swift Sports, while MasterDrive returns to Knysna with a five car effort headed by its muscular Ford Mustang.
The Simola Hillclimb commences with admin, checks and the popular Knysna Parade Thursday 2 May. Then it’s Classic Car Friday, followed by two days of fierce competition Saturday and Sunday to crown the 2024 King of the Hill.
“We will once again prove our Dunlop SportMaxx advantage while supporting our Volkswagen Motorsport, Suzuki SA, and MasterDrive entries’ endeavours up the hill,” Joanne de Freitas concludes. “We look forward to spending some great, quality time among our fans, friends old and new, fun and atmosphere, at the Hill. See you in Knysna!”
