The Lemons 9hr Race, held recently with great success, marked a significant milestone in motorsport history. Growing to 58 entries from the previous year, the race showcased the incredible talent, Gees and determination of its participants.
One of the standout moments of the event was the world record set by Kirsten “Kiki” Auerswald, the youngest female driver to compete in a 9hr race globally. Kiki’s achievement not only made headlines but also inspired aspiring young drivers worldwide.
“Not only did we witness thrilling racing action, but we also made history,” said Mark Castel, ILamuna endurance series CEO. “Kiki’s record-breaking performance is a testament to the inclusive and progressive nature of motorsport. We are immensely proud of her accomplishment.”
The Lemons 9hr Race also saw the participation of two 14-year-old boys, Keegan Nathan and Mauro Da Luz, who became the youngest boys to race in a 9hr event in Africa. Their passion, skill, and dedication on the track were commendable and added to the excitement of the race.
The podium was a display of talent and perseverance, with Mr Turbo claiming the top spot, followed by The Monday Club in second place, and the defending champions Boetfighters securing third place. The competitive spirit and sportsmanship showcased by all participants made the event a thrilling spectacle for spectators and participants alike.
The success of the Lemons 9hr Race would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Eezi Parts, GSV (Global Specialised Vehicles), Havoline, and Dunlop for their invaluable contributions and unwavering support.
Looking ahead, the motorsport community eagerly anticipates the upcoming Mischief 9hr Race in Cape Town on July 5-6, followed by the VMS Paint 24hr Race on November 1-3. These events promise to continue the legacy of excellence, excitement, and camaraderie that define the Lemons series.
