The Road Safety Partnership South Africa (RSP-SA) honoured the CEO of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, with their inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award. Herbert was the recipient of this award to recognise exceptional and enduring contributions to road safety in South Africa.
During the recent Annual General Meeting, three awards celebrated outstanding commitment to safer roads. The newly established Chairman’s Awards acknowledge individuals and organisations making significant impact in road safety.
Specifically, the Lifetime Achievement Award represents acknowledgement of someone whose dedication has shaped the landscape of road safety advocacy and implementation across the country.
Speaking about the decision to honour Herbert, the RSP-SA Vice-Chairperson states: “Eugene Herbert exemplifies the tireless dedication and visionary leadership required to drive lasting change in road safety. His decades of commitment have not only impacted countless lives but have also inspired a new generation of road safety advocates.
“His work is instrumental in raising national awareness, implementing effective interventions, and fostering partnerships that strengthen our collective efforts to reduce road fatalities and injuries across South Africa,” says the RSP-SA Vice-Chairperson.
The award ceremony also celebrated two other significant achievements:
- The Private Sector Award: presented to the Automobile Association of South Africa (AASA) for unwavering commitment that has significantly strengthened road safety initiatives nationwide.
- The RSP-SA Partnership Award: to Ntobeko Mogadime in recognition of her exceptional commitment and dedication to RSP-SA’s mission.
MasterDrive expresses pride in the achievement of their leader. The COO of MasterDrive, Lauren Hawthorn, expands: “Eugene is at the helm of our organisation, leading by example in promoting safer roads in a country that has gained notoriety for its high fatality rates.
