JAC Motors has launched its new T9 Hunter Limited Edition, celebrating the T9’s record-breaking 24-hour endurance run at Gerotek near Pretoria, where it achieved 4,084 km at an average speed of 170.1 km/h. The T9 Hunter, based on the top-spec T9 Super Lux, delivers enhanced performance and offers customised accessories, underscoring its position as the T-Series’ ultimate range-topping model.

The T9 Hunter delivers over 15% more performance than the current T9 line-up, producing 144 kW at 3,014 rpm and 487 Nm at 2,704 rpm from its 2.0-litre intercooled turbocharged common-rail diesel engine. An 8-speed ZF automatic transmission ensures seamless power delivery. At the same time, exclusive Artav nudge and style bars, a tow bar, tonneau cover, branded headrests and heavy-duty carpets add comfort and lifestyle appeal.

“The new T9 Hunter 4×4 delivers more than R50,000 in added value yet is priced at R689,900, only R30,000 more than the T9 Super Lux 4×4 at R659,900,” says Karl-Heinz Göbel, CEO of JAC Motors South Africa. “All 24 individually numbered units sold immediately, highlighting exclusivity and demand.”

“With all 24 T9 Hunters selling out instantly, the company decided to include the T9 Hunter as a permanent model in the line-up,” adds Göbel. The T9 Hunter will soon be offered in both 4×2 and 4×4 configurations, available in all eight colours across the range.”

The company also confirmed that, since 1 September 2025, torque across all T9 Lux and Super Lux derivatives has been increased from 410 Nm to 444 Nm. This enhancement improves drivability, especially for customers hauling heavy trailers or caravans, while offering the upgraded performance at no additional cost.

“All our JAC products are exceptionally fuel efficient, especially the T-Series line-up. At a recent JAC Motors fuel economy test at Gerotek, the T9 achieved 1,226 km at 6.2 L/100 km, while the T8 reached 1,246 km at 6.1 L/100 km – both on just 76 litres of diesel at 115 km/h. What an outstanding achievement for our bakkies,” says Göbel.

The luxurious T9 range features a striking design, a spacious and comfortable interior and advanced active and passive safety features, ensuring both the driver and passengers enjoy maximum comfort and protection. With a braked towing capacity of 3,500 kg, it is ideally suited for families who are hauling heavy camping gear on adventurous outings.

“The T9 Hunter delivers lively performance and car-like drivability, combining impressive power, spacious comfort for family and lifestyle adventures, and outstanding fuel economy – a key consideration for today’s discerning buyers,” concludes Göbel.

The JAC T9 line-up and pricing:

The T9 line-up is available in eight colours: Star Grey, Grey, Silver, White, Black, Red, Yellow and Blue.

T9 owners can personalise their vehicles with a range of JAC Motors accessories, tailored to suit both practical work requirements and adventurous lifestyle preferences.
