  • The 2026 Mitsubishi Motors product offensive is set to continue with the all-new Destinator.
  • The Destinator combines SUV styling with a practical three-row interior.
  • A 1.5-litre turbocharged engine offers an excellent blend of performance and economy.

Mitsubishi Motors South Africa look forward to the introduction of the all-new Destinator to the South African audience in the first half of 2026.

The all-new Destinator is set to redefine family journeys thanks to more space and enhanced technology as it balances modern comfort with Mitsubishi Motors proven reliability.

Unveiled globally in 2025, the all-new Destinator has been designed for emerging markets such as Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa and combines exceptional quality with value for money qualities. The all-new Destinator will be built in the brands Indonesian plant, which is also responsible for models like the Outlander Sport and Xpander.

Creature comforts are set to include a panoramic sunroof, 65 colour ambient lighting, a large 12.3-inch infotainment screen paired with an eight-inch digital instrument cluster and a Yamaha audio system.

The all-new Destinator will be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which produces a respectable 120kW and 250Nm and which powers the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Five driving modes will allow the driver to balance performance and economy according to their needs. Mitsubishi’s off-road technologies such as Active Yaw Control are in place to ensure safe and reliable driving performance across a variety of road surfaces and weather conditions.

“The Destinator is an all-new SUV designed for South African families and explorers alike. With its bold capabilities and versatile design, we are excited to help our customers embark on new journeys while strengthening our presence in the compact SUV segment,” says Lerato Nonyane, General Manager: Product & Marketing at Mitsubishi Motors South Africa (MMSA).

The Destinator combines the practicality of an MPV with the styling of an SUV. Seating for seven across three rows is infinitely configurable with the second and third rows able to be adjusted via a 40:20:40 split or a 50:50 split respectively. 25 innovative storage spaces are ready to swallow everything that a family needs.

The all-new Mitsubishi Destinator is equipped with the latest in active and passive driver assistance systems including the newest ADAS technology and six airbags. This saw the Destinator earn a maximum five-star rating in the 2025 ASEAN NCAP, a comprehensive safety performance assessment program for new vehicles in the ASEAN region.

Following its global launch in 2025 the Destinator has received numerous awards including the Japanese Good Design award, a Gold award in the Best Industrial Product Design category of the VMARK Vietnam Design Awards and Best of the Best at Indonesia’s 2025 FORWOT Car of the Year awards.

“As part of an exclusive pre-launch campaign which commences in March 2026, the first 20 customers to secure an all-new Mitsubishi Destinator will not only be able to purchase the Destinator at a special price, but will also unlock a substantial mystery prize, an extraordinary reward designed to ignite their ownership journey and set the tone for countless adventures behind the wheel of their new Destinator,” concludes Nonyane.

Mitsubishi Motors South Africa look forward to revealing the exact local specification, model range and pricing closer to the models launch date in March  2026.
