  • More power, better efficiency: Street+ now delivers 115 kW and 230 N.m while improving fuel consumption to 6.9L/100 km.
  • New tech and transmissions: Style X gains a dual-clutch gearbox, multi-link rear suspension, LED headlights, and three drive modes.
  • Premium made accessible: Both models boast advanced infotainment, improved comfort, and comprehensive safety features, all at attainable price points.

Following the introduction of the C5 Luxury X and Elegance X trims earlier this year, OMODA & JAECOO South Africa are now enhancing the Style and Street derivatives with a series of upgrades designed to deliver more power, introduce new transmission options, elevated specifications, and a notable boost in performance.

The new Street+ now delivers a substantial increase in output, with power rising from 83 kW to 115 kW and torque climbing from 138 N.m to 230 N.m, thanks to the familiar turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine used throughout the C5 lineup. The result is a far more dynamic and responsive driving experience, complemented by improved efficiency. Fuel consumption decreases from 7.3L/100 km to 6.9L/100 km. More power and greater efficiency. What’s not to like?

Power is channelled to the front wheels through a CVT (continuously variable transmission), allowing drivers to tailor their experience via two selectable modes: Eco and Sport. The Street+ continues to utilise a MacPherson front and torsion beam rear suspension setup, while braking performance is managed by disc brakes all round, with ventilated units on the front axle for added stopping power.

While positioned as the entry point to the C5 lineup, the Street+ boasts an impressive list of standard features that make it anything but entry-level. Highlights include 17-inch alloy wheels, heated door mirrors, and a black cloth-trimmed interior. Comfort and convenience are enhanced with air-conditioning, rear parking sensors, automatic headlights, a rear-view camera, and cruise control, all fitted as standard. Keyless entry and push-button start further add to the everyday ease of use.

The infotainment system is comprehensive, featuring a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth connectivity. The audio experience has also been enhanced, with the previous four-speaker setup upgraded to six speakers for a richer, more immersive listening experience.

“OMODA continues to challenge expectations of what an entry-level crossover can offer,” said Shannon Gahagan, National Brand and Marketing Manager at OMODA & JAECOO South Africa. “The Street+ delivers the same confident performance, comfort, and technology that define the C5 lineup, at a price that makes premium more accessible.”

Further up in the C5 range, updates have been made to the Style trim. This grade has been brought stylistically in line with the Luxury X and Elegance X models introduced in April 2025, and now adopts the ‘X’ designation as well.

The CVT has been replaced by a dual-clutch transmission, delivering smoother, more precise shifts and improved efficiency. Fuel consumption has been reduced from 7.4L/100 km to 6.9L/100 km, while acceleration has improved too. The 0-100 km/h sprint is now completed in nine seconds, 0.9 seconds quicker than the outgoing C5 Style.

Furthermore, drivers can now choose between three driving modes, namely Eco, Normal, and Sport. Beneath the sleeker, sportier exterior, OMODA has also introduced mechanical upgrades to the C5 Style X, including a multilink rear suspension setup that replaces the torsion beam setup previously used on the outgoing Style derivative.

Updates have been made to the specification level, with the halogen headlights replaced by LEDs that not only give the C5 Style X a more premium appearance but also enhance nighttime visibility. The Style X builds on the Street+ specification with a leather-trimmed steering wheel, sports seats, and several other comfort-focused upgrades. Like the Luxury X and Elegance X models, the Style X also benefits from a larger boot, which has increased in size from 378 to 442 litres. With the second-row seats folded flat, total load capacity increases to 1,149 litres.

“Building on the recently updated Luxury X and Elegance X models, the Style X represents the latest evolution of the C5 lineup,” said Gahagan. “OMODA is committed to continually refining its vehicles to deliver a more compelling package for South African drivers. The Style X bridges the gap between the Luxury X and Elegance X variants, offering the same style, performance, and practicality at a more accessible price point.”

Safety remains a top priority for OMODA, with both the Street+ and Style X featuring a comprehensive suite of safety systems. Standard equipment includes anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), and an Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), along with dual front and front side airbags. ISOFIX child-seat anchor points are also fitted to both models. As a reminder, the OMODA C5 achieved a five-star rating in Euro NCAP’s 2022 crash safety evaluations, earning scores of 87% for both adult and child occupant protection.

Pricing for the refreshed C5 lineup is as follows:

  • Street+: R339,900
  • Style X: R374,900
  • Luxury X: R425,900
  • Elegance X: R465,900

The C5 Street+ and Style X derivatives come with a five-year/150,000 km factory warranty, two-year/25,000 km service plan, and OMODA’s industry-leading ten-year/one-million km engine warranty as part of the standard price.
