Reinforcing its position as the country’s leading vehicle manufacturer, Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) led the November new vehicle sales charge with 13 576 units. With an increment overall market share of 24.7% in comparison to October 2025 (24.2%), the November sales underscore Toyota’s resilience and consistent customer trust in a complex environment.
Toyota’s performance reflects naamsa’s latest new vehicle sales report highlighting a surge in domestic sales. naamsa reports that aggregate domestic new vehicle sales for November 2025 reached 54 896 units, an increase of 6 113 units (+12,5%) compared to the 48 783 units recorded in November 2024. The new passenger car market remained dominant with 39 158 units whilst the light commercial vehicle, bakkies and minibus segment recorded increased sales of 13 048 units. The medium and heavy truck segment sales mimicked previous months’ mixed performance with 698 and 1 992 units respectively.
Brand Performance Highlights
Toyota delivered strong results by maintaining sales leadership in the passenger cars (8 598 units), light commercial vehicles (4 617 units) and medium commercial vehicles (262 units) segments. Listed among the Top 10 passenger car bestsellers is the Corolla Cross (1 651 units), Starlet (1 619 units), Urban Cruiser (1 325 units) and the Starlet Cross (1 085 units). Lexus delivered an impressive rebound in November with a total of 90 vehicle sales. Similar to October 2025, the NX maintained its performance of 31 units whilst the GX and ES posted significantly increased sales of 29 units and 12 units, respectively.
With a market share of 25.9% and 3 383 units sold, the legendary Toyota Hilux remains the undisputed segment leader, further cementing its reputation as South Africa’s favourite bakkie. The Land Cruiser Prado showcased an outstanding performance with 335 units, an impressive increase of 186 units sold in comparison to October 2025 (149 units). Whilst the Hiace (596 units) saw a slight drop, the Quantum bus shifted 162 units, its best year-to-date performance. In support of Toyota’s November sales records, the Hino business moved a total of 262 units.
Toyota’s fleet offering continued its strong momentum, delivering 3 714 vehicles to business customers through the national dealer network. With increased sales performance of 78 units, the Toyota Coaster reaffirmed its strength in mobility and tourism. The recent launch of the Hilux Custom Builds emphasised Toyota’s drive to offer dependable, ready-to-work solutions to take South African businesses further.
The parts division shifted just under 2 million pieces to the domestic market with 314 116 pieces exported to international markets. Total Toyota vehicle exports increased to 6 453 units in comparison to 4 436 units in October.
