Top-placing entrants in the 2025 Fleet Safety Awards were still reaping the rewards awards of this in 2026. The Association of Fleet Professionals South Africa (AFP-SA) hosted the first Fleet Management Workshop of 2026. Headline partner Tracker opened their offices to an exceptional group of fleet managers for a day of practical learning.

The President of the AFP, Eugene Herbert, says it was a privilege to welcome professionals who already demonstrate a commitment to safety within mobility. The workshop, facilitated by fleet industry expert Johan van Niekerk, was designed to be a springboard for continued growth.

The day covered an expansive range of topics reflecting the true breadth of modern fleet management. “Discussions spanned topics of high importance and relevance including the current economic climate and its impact on the fleet market, asset management as well as day-to-day operational realities. It was a comprehensive overview that left few stones unturned.

“What set this workshop apart was not simply its content, but the quality of the conversation it generated. With a room full of high-performing fleet managers, the discussions moved beyond theory into experience-driven dialogue. Participants had the opportunity to interrogate their own approaches, challenge assumptions, and share safety strategies. Ultimately, as in all industries, even the most accomplished fleet managers have room to sharpen their practice.”

This is a sector where margins are tight and the cost of getting it wrong, whether through accidents, poor asset decisions, or inefficient operations, can be significant. “Access to this level of peer learning and expert facilitation is a valuable opportunity for further improvement.

“The workshop helped fleet managers shape their thinking of their fleets to be holistic. This enables better connection and cohesion between management of financial performance, operational efficiency, and people management more comprehensively.”

The Fleet Safety Awards 2026 will not only award top placing entrants’ access to workshops in 2027 but will feature new and updated content. “Additionally, participation is not reserved for overall winners alone. The top ten finalists across all three Best Fleet Manager categories are eligible. If you manage a fleet and have not yet entered, 2026 is your year to do so. Entry into the Awards can become an investment in your professional development.

“Additionally, there will be further workshops during the 2026 year. These are designed to provide a more in-depth exploration of the industry’s most critical topics. These sessions will offer a deep dive into key areas that will shape the future of fleet safety and operations. The workshops will foster continued professional development,” says Herbert.

The AFP and Tracker are committed to raising the standard of fleet management across the industry and workshops such as this are a clear expression of that commitment — a platform where recognition translates directly into knowledge.
