  • 10 000th Mahindra XUV 3XO sold in February after late 2024 launch
  • Success of XUV 3XO helped Mahindra become overall Top 10 brand in SA
  • 3XO to be celebrated at this weekend’s Mahindra Fusion Fest

Mahindra has reached a significant landmark, officially delivering the 10 000th Mahindra XUV 3XO to a South African customer during February 2026.

This achievement represents the fastest-ever 10 000-unit sales milestone recorded by any vehicle in the local Mahindra stable, requiring just over 500 days since its initial launch to reach this impressive figure.

The Mahindra XUV 3XO was introduced to the South African market in October 2024, setting a new benchmark for safety and specification within the compact SUV segment.

From the outset, the brand committed to providing a very high level of safety to all owners, regardless of the model that they choose. With this in mind, all versions of the Mahindra XUV 3XO are fitted with six airbags, automatic stability control, ISOFIX child seat anchors, 3-point seatbelts for all occupants and ABS-equipped disc brakes on all wheels.

Under the skin, the XUV 3XO makes extensive use of high-strength and ultra-high strength steel, with the latter making up 45% of the body and frame of the vehicle. Using these materials and a modern design, the cabin is engineered to absorb a 20-ton frontal impact, a major achievement for a vehicle under four metres long.

Beyond its safety credentials, the XUV 3XO line-up boast a suite of features and specifications typically reserved for vehicles in a much higher price bracket.

Among its many luxury features is a 10.25” digital information cluster for the driver and a second large floating screen of equal size, which incorporates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on models equipped with this feature.

High-end features include the largest panoramic sunroof in its class, known as the Mahindra Skyroof, alongside a premium nine-channel Harman Kardon sound system. Driving dynamics are further enhanced by the option of a true six-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, the cabin features 65-watt fast-charging capabilities, powerful enough to support both modern smartphones and laptops, and true level 2 Automative Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

On the outside, most of the XUV 3XO models have LED headlamps with daytime running lights, striking LED tail lamps connected by an LED infinity light bar and 17” diamond cut alloy wheels.

Under the bonnet, all models are powered by a refined 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, delivering a punchy 82kW of power and 200Nm of torque, ensuring a balance of efficiency and spirited performance.

Perhaps the most compelling aspect of the XUV 3XO’s aggressive value proposition, which offers a high level of performance and specification on every model. This demonstrates Mahindra’s commitment to making the XUV 3XO affordable to the widest range of customers.

The rapid sales trajectory of the XUV 3XO has been a primary catalyst for the overall growth of the Mahindra brand in the region. In February alone, Mahindra retailed 1 996 units across its entire portfolio, including 791 XUV 3XO models, firmly cementing its position as one of the ten best-selling automotive brands in the country. This commercial success is supported by a robust national footprint, with Mahindra now supported by more than 100 dealers nationwide.

To support this expanding customer base, the brand recently launched its Reach Out-campaign. This initiative ensures that customers receive a comprehensive response to any query within 24 hours or less by contacting Mahindra via their official WhatsApp line.

This focus on digital accessibility is paired with a significant investment in physical infrastructure, including a massive new national parts distribution warehouse in Midrand to ensure world-class after-sales support.

“The XUV 3XO has welcomed a lot of new members to the Mahindra family,” says Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa.

“We want to make sure that we exceed their customer service expectations, just as the car exceeds their expectations for what is possible in a compact SUV. That is why we back our sales growth with programmes like Reach Out and our underlying philosophy of democratising technology by making safety and technology accessible, and useable, to as many people as possible. We are committed to ensuring that our rapid growth is matched by an equally rapid and reliable service experience.”

The celebrate the success of the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Mahindra has decided to give it pride of place at this weekend’s Mahindra Fusion Fest.

The Mahindra Fusion Fest will be hosted for the second year in 2026 and over 7 000 fans and guests are expected on 7 March at the SunBet Arena for this unique celebration of music, fashion and art in honour of the vibrancy of the South African Rainbow Nation.

Fans who are keen on joining Mahindra at this weekend’s celebration can still find tickets at Ticketmaster or participate in the test drive campaign which will see one lucky Fusion Fest customer win the XUV 3XO.
