The Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S 4MATIC+ combines precision engineering with a striking exterior to represent the pinnacle of the four-door coupé segment. The arrival of the ‘Final Edition’ introduces enhanced exclusivity through meticulously curated edition-specific features. We are pleased to announce that 15 units have been reserved for the South African market.
With its high-performance four-cylinder engine, intelligent all-wheel drive, sports-car handling and AMG specific design, the CLA 45 S has built up a loyal fan base. The AMG 2.0-litre engine is the most powerful four-cylinder turbocharged engine in series production worldwide. In addition to the CLA, it is used in A‑Class and C‑Class AMG models, as well as the GLA and GLC (including the coupé) in various performance levels. In the CLA 45 S, it delivers 310 kW. With this engine, the super-sports car among compact cars delivers powerful performance.
The CLA 45 S accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds. Top speed is limited to 270 km/h. In addition to the pure performance figures, the AMG 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine offers spontaneous response and a high maximum torque of 500 Nm. Another special feature is that the compact powerplant is assembled entirely by one employee on a state-of-the-art production line at the Affalterbach engine factory according to the ‘one man, one engine’ principle.
The eight-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT-8G dual-clutch transmission guarantees perfect power delivery in all driving situations as well as lightning-fast gear changes. The active, fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive distributes power to the rear axle via AMG TORQUE CONTROL on a wheel-by-wheel basis – for either the most traction or spectacular drift mode.
Both models enjoy reputations as expressive design icons. They feature AMG specific radiator grilles with vertical struts, AMG crests on the bonnets and AMG front aprons, tying them directly to the AMG Performance family. There are also sharply cut headlights, AMG light-alloy wheels and rear lights with LED technology.
Dark colours and bright contrasts
The 15 “Final Edition” models available for South African Customers are all finished in exclusive Night Black paint finish. In addition, there are decals with large “45 S” lettering in black or yellow on the doors and the AMG logo in yellow on the exterior mirror covers. The “Final Edition” rolls on matte black 19-inch AMG forged wheels in a cross-spoke design. The edition-specific wheel hub covers bear the AMG logo in yellow, combined with laurel wreath elements. The brake callipers of the AMG high-performance brake system are painted gloss black to match the colour of the wheels and feature white AMG logos. A sophisticated detail is the fuel-filler cap in silver chrome with “AMG” lettering and design elements in black.
With the AMG Night Package, exterior elements such as mirror housings and trim strips are finished in high-gloss black. Together with the dark chrome tailpipe trims, this results in flowing transitions. The AMG Night Package II is also available. It is ideal for individualists who appreciate high-class design details. Other elements such as the struts of the radiator grille and badges are finished in black chrome and make the “Final Edition” a real eye-catcher.
Sporty interior with yellow accents
The interior of the “Final Edition” also has an unmistakable design – the AMG Performance seats are upholstered in a combination of ARTICO man-made leather and black MICROCUT microfibre. Yellow topstitching on the seats, door panelling and instrument panel create attractive contrasts. This also applies to the embroidered emblems with the “45 S” label in the front headrests. A “45 S Final Edition” emblem on the centre console indicates the edition.
An AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather/microfibre MICROCUT with yellow topstitching and aluminium trim elements with the AMG pattern and yellow AMG lettering add further highlights to the interior. The AMG door-sill panels also demonstrate the attention to detail. They feature an AMG pattern design in black and illuminate the AMG logo in yellow. AMG floor mats with “45 S” lettering and decorative stitching in yellow round off the interior upgrades.
