Geely Auto continues to expand its global electrification strategy with the introduction of the Geely E2, a compact all-electric hatchback designed to redefine expectations in the premium entry-level EV segment.

Developed for modern urban mobility, the E2 combines compact dimensions with intelligent technology, impressive driving range, and advanced safety features. The model reflects Geely’s commitment to making electric mobility more accessible, while delivering the practicality and connectivity today’s drivers expect.

In South Africa, the Geely E2 will be offered in two specification grades: Aspire and the range-topping Apex, both designed to deliver strong value and everyday usability.

As Jateen Daya, Geely Auto South Africa’s Head of Product, explains:

“The E2 represents a new approach to accessible electric mobility. It delivers the space, technology, design and everyday usability expected from a sophisticated hatchback, combined with the benefits of an electric powertrain at an accessible price point. This philosophy is reflected in Geely’s brand direction, ‘Drive the wonder’.”

At a glance:

  • Compact all-electric five-door hatchback designed for urban mobility
  • Available in two specification grades: Aspire and Apex
  • Electric motor producing 85 kW
  • Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery
  • Driving range of up to 325 km (WLTP)
  • DC fast charging capability (up to 70 kW)
  • Energy consumption of 15.2 kWh/100 km (WLTP)
  • Rear-wheel drive with multi-link rear suspension
  • 375-litre boot capacity (expandable to 1,320 litres)
  • 70-litre front trunk (frunk)
  • Digital cabin with large touchscreen and instrument display
  • Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)
  • Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability

Design and exterior

The Geely E2 features a modern, youthful design that reflects its role as a next-generation urban EV. Clean surfacing, compact proportions and distinctive lighting signatures create a balance between practicality and contemporary styling.

A closed grille enhances aerodynamic efficiency, while slim LED headlamps and a sculpted front bumper reinforce its confident stance. The side profile is defined by short overhangs and a long wheelbase, supporting both stability and interior space.

At the rear, distinctive LED lighting and a wide tailgate enhance both visual presence and practicality, while an integrated roof spoiler improves aerodynamics.

The Aspire model rides on 15-inch steel wheels with aero covers, while the Apex features 16-inch alloy wheels, two-tone paint, rear privacy glass, and chrome detailing.

Dimensions and platform

Built on a dedicated electric vehicle architecture, the E2 is designed to optimise interior space, efficiency, and structural rigidity.

  • Length: 4,135 mm
  • Width: 1,805 mm
  • Height: 1,580 mm
  • Wheelbase: 2,650 mm

The platform enables a flat cabin floor and improved weight distribution, contributing to enhanced comfort and driving dynamics.

Interior and practicality

Inside, the E2 offers a clean, tech-focused cabin centred around a dual-display setup, including a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster.

The flat-floor layout improves space and comfort, while more than 30 storage compartments enhance everyday usability. The luggage compartment offers 375 litres of space, expanding to 1,320 litres, complemented by a 70-litre front trunk.

The Apex model adds vegan leather upholstery, soft-touch materials, and a more premium interior finish.
