Hybrid and plug-in hybrid automotive popularity and sales are growing globally. According to industry analysts, consumer interest in hybrid vehicles is driven by their ability to improve fuel efficiency while avoiding a complete reliance on charging infrastructure.

“The Jetour T1 i-DM builds on the success of the Jetour T1 by adding intelligent hybrid technology without compromising its rugged character, comfort or capability. It’s designed to give customers more choice, without forcing a trade-off between performance, efficiency and versatility,” says Vice President of Jetour South Africa, Nic Campbell.

From the outside, the T1 i-DM’s strong square proportions and smoother SUV contours give it a modern adventure-focused appearance. Design elements include a commanding front grille, distinctive storm-eye LED headlights and a horizontal illuminated front grille light strip. Exterior highlights include LED daytime running lights and taillights, 19-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, privacy glass and a panoramic glass sunroof, while premium convenience features such as an electric tailgate, towbar and Jetour projection logo mirrors further enhance its sophisticated yet rugged appeal.

The Jetour T1 i-DM is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged hybrid-dedicated petrol engine paired with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system, a 1DHT Dedicated Hybrid Transmission and Jetour’s intelligent Hybrid i-DM technology. Delivering a combined power output of 250kW and 530Nm of torque, the powertrain is designed to offer a balance of strong performance, efficiency and refined driving dynamics.

The plug-in hybrid system is further supported by an electric motor producing 150kW and 310Nm of torque, contributing to a top speed of over 180km/h. Designed with efficiency in mind, this T1 PHEV delivers fuel consumption as low as 1.1L/100km and CO₂ emissions of just 25g/km, while offering a combined driving range of up to 1 200km and an electric-only range of 100km (NEDC). Powering the system is an 18.4kWh battery, with DC fast charging capable of charging from 30% to 80% in just 27 minutes, while AC charging from 30% to 100% takes approximately 180 minutes.

Designed with everyday comfort and adventure-ready capability in mind, the Jetour T1 i-DM offers a ground clearance of 190mm and a wading depth of 600mm, complemented by intelligent driving technologies such as Hill Descent Control, Crawl Control Mode and XWD intelligent four-wheel-drive technology.

Multiple selectable driving modes, including Normal, Sport, Snow and Eco, as well as dedicated EV and HEV modes, allow drivers to adapt the driving experience to a variety of road conditions.

It commands a strong road presence, measuring 4 705mm in length, 1 967mm in width and 1 843mm in height, with a 2 800mm wheelbase. Practicality is further reinforced by a 574L boot capacity, expanding to 1 455L with the rear seats folded, while a towing capacity of up to 1 600kg adds to its versatility for everyday use and longer journeys.

Inside, the premium-inspired cabin features black synthetic leather seats with orange stitching, ventilated front seats, driver seat memory and lumbar support, as well as a passenger leg rest for enhanced comfort on longer journeys. The interior features dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting and a heating and cooling centre.

Synonymous with the Jetour brand is a strong focus on world-class technology. Its tech-rich cabin is designed to enhance connectivity, convenience and entertainment, with a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Powered by a Snapdragon 8155 smart chip, the system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice control functionality and seamless smart integration. Additional premium touches include 50W wireless charging and a 9-speaker Sony sound system.

Safety remains another defining feature of Jetour vehicles, with features including multiple airbags, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning and active emergency braking.

Rear cross traffic alert, a 540° panoramic view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, hill descent control and a tyre pressure monitoring system, all work together to support safer driving.

Adding further merit to an already well-equipped offering, the Jetour T1i-DM is backed by a comprehensive ownership package that includes a 7-year / 200 000km vehicle warranty, a 7-year / 75 000km service plan, an 8-year / 160 000km battery warranty and an extensive 10-year / 1 000 000km engine warranty, underscoring the brand’s commitment to long-term reliability and peace of mind for owners.

With a starting price of R 689 900, the Jetour T1 i-DM is available in Onyx Black, Glacier White. Titan Silver, Aqua Green and Sand Gold.
