Salvador Caetano Auto South Africa, a subsidiary of the renowned Salvador Caetano Group, is revving up to officially launch Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC) in South Africa in November 2025. With the first wave of vehicles nearing local shores, JMC is ready to make a bold entrance. Offering South Africans rugged, well-performing commercial vehicles that balance exceptional value, capability, and comfort.

Backed by one of China’s most trusted automotive manufacturers and distributed by a global automotive powerhouse, JMC is poised to reshape the commercial vehicle landscape in South Africa, starting with the competitive single cab market.

TARGETING SOUTH AFRICA’S WORKHORSE SEGMENT

With over 3,000 single cab bakkies sold monthly across South Africa in the sub-R350,000 price bracket, the demand for tough, reliable, and affordable pickups remains a cornerstone of the local automotive market. In response, JMC South Africa is gearing up to offer its Vigus Single Cab at a highly competitive target price of R300,000 strategically positioned to disrupt the segment with unmatched value.

What sets the JMC Vigus apart isn’t just the price, it’s what comes standard under the hood.

POWER THAT PUNCHES ABOVE ITS PRICE TAG

Built to meet the demands of hardworking South Africans, the JMC Vigus Single Cab doesn’t just show up, it outperforms. With a punchy 2.4L engine delivering 103 kW of power and a solid 310 Nm of torque, this workhorse pulls its weight and then some. Paired with a smooth 5-speed manual transmission, the Vigus offers the kind of strength, control, and durability you’d expect from far pricier rivals proving that real performance doesn’t have to come with a premium price tag.

These specifications translate to practical, everyday benefits: solid towing capability, confident overtaking power, and the torque to tackle heavy loads and uneven terrain, all while maintaining fuel efficiency and mechanical simplicity.

A LAUNCH BUILT ON TRUST, SERVICE & SUPPORT

“Partnering with JMC aligns perfectly with our vision of bringing trusted, high-performance mobility solutions to the South African market,” says Leslie Ramsoomar, Managing Director at Salvador Caetano South Africa. “We’re proud to represent a brand that shares our commitment to reliability, innovation, and customer-focused service.”

With a full range of aftersales support, locally available parts, and a growing network of service points, the brand is ready to support the needs of entrepreneurs, fleet owners, and professionals who rely on their vehicles daily.

BEYOND THE BAKKIE

Following the Vigus launch, the JMC range will grow to include:

  • Vigus Double Cab – arriving in early 2026, blending utility and lifestyle in one bold package.
  • Grand Avenue – a leisure bakkie that is as stylish as it is capable.
  • JMC Carrying Plus – a range of robust commercial trucks tailored for logistics, agriculture, and industrial sectors.

A NEW PLAYER. A PROVEN PEDIGREE.

Founded in 1946, the Salvador Caetano Group has a legacy of over 75 years in automotive excellence. With operations in more than 41 countries, it brings global strength and local insight to its distribution of JMC vehicles. The introduction of JMC into the South African market is a continuation of that legacy—offering work-ready vehicles that are “Built for Work. Ready for Tomorrow.”
