  • Daimler Truck Southern Africa announces important leadership appointments effective 1 July 2026, marking a significant step in strengthening the organisation’s executive team.
  • Daimler Truck Southern Africa drives customer focus and operational excellence through strong new leadership appointments.

Effective, 1 July 2026, DTSA is pleased to welcome Naeem Hassim as Vice President for its Customer Service and Parts division, succeeding Ziyad Gaba, who assumes a new role within the Daimler Truck organisation as Vice President of Customer Service and Parts for Daimler Truck Middle East and Africa (MEA). In addition, Viscount Ramoshaba has been appointed Head of Dealer Network and Training. Both Naeem Hassim and Viscount Ramoshaba will serve on the company’s Executive Committee.

Commenting on the new appointments, President and Group CEO Maretha Gerber said: “I am delighted to welcome Naeem and Viscount to the DTSA Executive Committee. Both have made valuable contributions to the business over the years and bring a strong understanding of our customers, our network and our operations. I am excited to see how their leadership will further strengthen our ability to deliver meaningful results, support our dealers and customers and continue driving the business forward.”

Welcome back Naeem Hassim

Naeem Hassim began his career with Mercedes‑Benz South Africa in 1994 and has since built an impressive leadership track record across the Daimler organisation. Over the years, he held several senior roles at DaimlerChrysler South Africa and Mercedes‑Benz South Africa, where he contributed to shaping business strategy, strengthening governance frameworks and enhancing customer experience as a member of the Executive Committee.

In 2017, he was appointed Head of the Regional Centre Africa at Daimler Commercial Vehicles MENA FZE in Dubai, overseeing operations across 40 Central African markets. In this role, he played a key part in aligning regional sales and Customer Services and Parts (CSP) strategies, while contributing to the development of the broader Daimler Trucks and Buses Organisation.

In 2022, he assumed the position of President Director of Daimler Commercial Vehicles Indonesia, where he led the business through a period of growth and operational development, driving key product introductions and supporting market expansion initiatives through a hands-on, execution-focused leadership approach.

Naeem is widely recognised for his people-centric leadership style and commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). He has championed initiatives supporting education, community upliftment and crisis response, while consistently driving sustainable growth and strong stakeholder collaboration. His leadership is further characterised by a focus on talent development, diversity and inclusion, and the cultivation of a high-performing, customer-focused organisational culture.

Reflecting on his return, Naeem Hassim said: “Coming back to DTSA feels like coming home. I am grateful for the opportunity to return and look forward to reconnecting with colleagues, customers and partners. DTSA has a strong foundation and a clear sense of purpose and I look forward to working with the team to drive further growth, strengthen our customer focus and deliver sustainable value.”

Meet Viscount Ramoshaba

Viscount Ramoshaba brings extensive experience and a strong track record within the organisation and the broader automotive and transport industries. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration and began his career in finance within the mining and FMCG sectors.

He joined the business in 2004, then known as debis Fleet Management, and has since held a range of leadership roles, including Manager: Dealer Monitoring and Internal Risk Control, Manager: Dealer Network, Manager: CharterWay, Head of Dealer Training and most recently Head of Supply Chain and Sales Administration.

Throughout his career, Viscount has led key business initiatives, contributing to operational excellence and organisational development. His appointment reflects his strong leadership capability, extensive industry experience and deep understanding of the dealer network environment.

Commenting on his appointment, Viscount Ramoshaba said: “I am truly honoured to take on this role and to join the DTSA Executive Committee. Our dealer network plays a vital role in keeping customers, businesses and economies moving across the region. I look forward to working closely with our dealer partners to support and strengthen their ability to deliver on this important responsibility. Together with our teams, we will continue to build on a strong foundation, enabling our network to deliver consistent, trusted service to our customers and keep Africa moving forward.”

DTSA thanks Ziyad Gaba for the significant contribution he has made to the organisation over the past two decades and wishes him every success in his new role. The appointments of Naeem and Viscount underscore DTSA’s continued investment in leadership capability, further strengthening the organisation’s position to drive sustainable growth and respond to the evolving demands of the transport industry in Southern Africa. We extend our best wishes to both in their new roles.
