That reputation continues to be reinforced today through motorsport success. Hilux remains a dominant force in rally-raid competition, including multiple Dakar Rally victories and recent success in the South African Safari Rally and the South African Rally-Raid Championship.

Selected grades feature Toyota Safety Sense 3, Toyota’s latest active safety platform. The system includes enhanced Pre-Collision functionality capable of detecting vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, as well as improved Emergency Steering Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control systems. Particular attention was paid to improving vehicle behaviour on gravel roads, a critical requirement for many South African and Southern African customers. Through revised suspension geometry, enhanced damping characteristics and refined steering calibration, the new Hilux delivers greater stability and composure on loose surfaces.
The improvements provide drivers with increased confidence at cruising speeds on gravel, better directional control through corners and reduced steering corrections over uneven terrain. The result is a vehicle that feels more planted and predictable, while retaining the durability and off-road capability that have long made Hilux the benchmark in demanding conditions.
New suspension tuning, revised damping characteristics, updated bushings and structural enhancements contribute to improved ride quality, particularly on uneven surfaces. Electric Power Steering delivers lighter low-speed manoeuvrability, improved steering precision and reduced driver fatigue.
Additional work on cabin and engine mounting systems helps reduce vibration and noise, creating a noticeably more refined driving experience for both driver and passengers.

The Hilux Legend also introduces Mild Hybrid technology. The new Hilux is backed by a 3-year/100 000km warranty and a 9-service/90 000km service plan, with service intervals of 10 000km. The Mild Hybrid battery in the Hilux Legend is covered by an 8-year/195 000km battery warranty.
